Open pipes are hidden killers for birds

Recent press on our work at Los Alamos National Laboratory on the impacts of open pipes and bollards on birds. Cavity-nesting birds are primarily impacts as they go into the pipe to investigate if it might be a good cavity home and then can not get out since they can not open their wings and the slides are often metal and slick. My colleague, Chuck Hathcock, has continued to spear head this work and getting the word out to cover pipes. Bird by bird...every bird saved is conservation in action!
